You sponsor. I bike 10 miles. We donate to orphans, together!
I'm Ashraf, a product designer living in Alexandria, VA. And I'm on a mission to help raise money for orphans and children in need—Powered by Charity Week.
On Saturday, October 27, I'll be biking 10 miles on the famous Mount Vernon Trail in Virginia along with a team of awesome people. We'll be biking up the path from Jones Point Park, over the Key Bridge, and into Georgetown, ending our trip at Falafel Inc., a restaurant that supports refugees with every meal purchased!
Plus, I'm livestreaming the whole bike ride!
Yes, that's right—from the beginning to the end, I'm going to be Facebook Live streaming my bicycle ride with all of my awesome teammates. I'll be taking questions, taking in the view, and bringing you in on the experience.
Well, here are a few reasons:
It's a healthy activity with minimal environmental impact
It's a fast, efficient form of transportation
It's a great way to raise awareness
It makes me aliiiiiiiive with joy!
Why Orphans and Children in Need?
Orphans and needy children are some of the most marginalized people in the world.
Did you know?
Approximately 153 million children worldwide are orphans.
263 million children and youth are out of school
There are 69 million children worldwide who suffer from malnutrition
Children represent almost half of all people living in extreme poverty although they make up roughly a third of the world’s population
We have a chance to make a difference across the world, especially with Charity Week running the show.
What's Charity Week?
Charity Week is a 100% volunteer led campaign in partnership with Islamic Relief. They focus on raising money for Orphans and Children in Need for one week every year. Students and organizations across the world create events and charity drives to raise money for actionable projects.
This year, Charity Week is helping in Mali, Syria, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, and Pakistan. They are on the ground with active projects including building wells, orphanages, schools, training centers, and more.
Charity Week believes in long term, sustainable projects that help eradicate suffering for orphans and children in need everywhere!
How can I help?
Hey! Thanks for thinking to help! I'm looking for the following:
Sponsors for my bike ride—Yup, sponsor a dollar amount per mile I bike and show your love and support for orphans everywhere.
Share the word—If you share this link to another friend, they might want to sponsor too. And that means we get closer to helping more orphans and children of need!
